History
The Mead Academy, founded in 2005, is named in honor of William R. Mead, Ph.D., a pioneer in the development of community-based mental health services. Dr. Mead recently retired as MHS Co-Founder and Clinical Director. Dr. Mead’s integrity, service and dedication to MHS will continue to be reflected in his on-going role as a member of the Board of Directors.
In furthering our commitment to provide the highest quality and standards of education to our staff and our communities, MHS established the William R. Mead-Training Academy (WRM-TA).
The William R. Mead Training Academy provides career training, not formal education, and is not affiliated with any college or university. The units and certificate earned in this program will not be transferable to any college or university in the future. In addition, the certificate you earn from the Mead Academy will not serve as a basis for obtaining a degree at a college or university.* *Exception Springfield College School of Human Services San Diego, California.
Our Mission
The mission of the William R. Mead Training Academy is to promote and provide quality education to people working in or entering the fields of alcohol and other drug treatment and integrated services.

- Breining Institute approval for Registered Addiction Specialist (RAS) and the Master-Registered Addiction Specialist (M-RAS) certification
